Back on the Viking XPRS

GULF OF FINLAND.- I'm back on the Viking XPRS ferry, seeing familiar faces who seem happy to see me back, and others who are just asking when José will be coming onboard. We've created a monster, and now will probably never be able to play alone succesfully without being asked where the other is.

There's a band playing at different hours, the Raino Bros.made up of three friendly and energetic Finns. I thought it was really curious that the drummer had no bass drum, but a suitcase! Now, how cool is that? And, yes, it actually sounds good.
I was up after the band, and if was a tough act to follow, since, well...it's a band, and they played quite upbeat and energetic music, which is kinda MY thing (bastards!). They decided to stick around to hear my set and I was very pleased to see them stay for the whole thing, and to see them do the Wayne's World 'We're not worthy' routine. It's always nice to hear compliments from people, but coming from good musicians, that feels special. True, in the end I'm trying to entertain people and not impress musicians, but still, it's a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Jose joined me today, so we'll be rocking out twice as hard, and I'm sure we'll have our usual army of fat, drunk, male groupies screaming in our faces.
Ahhh...Finland.

- Duke (trying hard to eat more vegetables and less meat, and trying to drink more tea and less coffee. So far.....not working.)
